SEO case study: how 3 months of SEO delivered long-term growth
This case study shows how a short, focused period of SEO work can create long-lasting results for a local service business.
The starting point
Before SEO work began, organic traffic was relatively low and steady. The website was receiving visitors, but it was not growing significantly through Google, and other traffic sources such as direct and social were inconsistent.
This is a common position for many small businesses. The website exists and brings in some traffic, but it is not actively growing or driving consistent visibility through search.
What we did
Between June and August 2024, we carried out a focused SEO project designed to improve the website’s visibility and performance in Google.
The work focused on strengthening the site’s SEO foundations, improving page optimisation, and helping Google better understand the services offered and the areas covered.
The results
During the three months of SEO work, there is a clear lift in organic traffic starting to build. This is shown by the increase in the dark blue section of the chart.
What is more important is what happens after the work was completed. Even though SEO activity stopped after August, organic traffic continued to grow month after month.
By early 2025 and into 2026, organic search had increased significantly and became the largest and most consistent source of traffic to the website.
What this means
This case highlights how SEO works over time. The initial work builds the foundation, and then Google continues to increase trust in the website, leading to ongoing growth even without constant input.
Unlike other traffic sources such as direct, social, or paid campaigns, which tend to fluctuate, organic search shows a steady upward trend.
The takeaway
A short period of focused SEO work can deliver long-term results. Once the right foundations are in place, visibility can continue to grow, and traffic can increase steadily over time.
For local service businesses, this means SEO is not just a short-term activity, but an investment that continues to deliver results well beyond the initial work.
