SEO case study: local service business

This example shows how a local service business improved its Google visibility after implementing a structured SEO approach.

The situation

The website had very limited visibility in search results. Rankings were low and inconsistent, meaning potential customers were not finding the business when searching for relevant services.

There were also technical issues on the site that were holding back performance, along with a lack of proper optimisation on key pages.

What we did

In August 2025, we carried out a focused SEO improvement plan, including:

  • fixing technical issues across the website
  • putting a solid technical SEO foundation in place
  • optimising individual service pages
  • improving how Google understands and indexes the site
  • improving the Google Business Profile

Total Cost: under £300

The results

Within just a few weeks, the website started to see a clear improvement in visibility.

As shown in the chart, rankings improved significantly after the work was completed. The website moved from lower positions in search results to much stronger, more competitive positions.

This increase in visibility means the business is now appearing in front of more potential customers when they search for relevant services.

What this shows

This case highlights an important point about SEO.

When the right foundations are in place, improvements can happen relatively quickly, especially for local service businesses. Fixing technical issues and properly optimising pages can unlock visibility that was already within reach.

It also shows that SEO is not always about doing more. Sometimes it is about fixing what is already there and making sure your website is working as it should.

The takeaway

If your website is not performing well in search, it does not always mean you need more content or more backlinks.

In many cases, improving your technical setup and optimising your existing pages can lead to fast and meaningful results.
